Math debate

During the drive to bowling last night(I won the first round!), there was a discussion of the pun "math debate". so I wrote a news like thing just to poke fun of it. Yeah, we are immature and can be amused easily. This is not a parody of anything even close to real life even if it sounds like some other competition.

Phat Kaoke, a junior in Betalpha High School recently become the star of his school as he was chosen to be part of the US Math Debate team to compete in International Mathematical Debate Olympiad(IMDO),
Kaoke was excited and surprised to hear the news. "I never thought this would happen to me," said Kaoke, "When I entered the competition I just want to have fun." He have gone though 3 different level of selections, the last one chose 36 students out of over half million competitors.
Even though math debate is a team sport, most debaters likes to do it alone. "I like to take matter at my own hands. I don't work well in teams."
The competitions are judged by duration and volume. "Duration as how long one can debate, while the volume is the amount of information they use. A common misconception is volume is the loudness of the sound they make, which cause inexperienced competitors screaming while they math debate" explained Dr. Baron, the team leader of US math debate team.
Opposing to popular belief, math debaters doesn't have to be fluent in English or any other language, Kaoke is famous for his Engrish in school. "As lone as me could let teh other persons understands, its okiy," expressed Kaoke in his broken English.
IMDO is the largest on site math debate competition. Over 9 thousand top high school math debaters in the world gathers in a host city every year and spend 6 hours total on 6 math debate sessions. "Imagine, thousands of math debaters gathers in one large site, each math debating furiously for their team. There will be sweat of the passion to win. Until the 6 hour event came to an conclusion." said Dr. Baron.
"I'm so happy, this year the competition is held on Beijing. The main event will be held in the Olympic swimming pool. I always want to come there," nodded Kaoke. "The pool will be filled with our intense result from the debate," he added.
The Chinese have always performed extremely well in the competition, but Kaoke is determined to win this year. "It's hard to hold out long, especially against the Chinese team. They usually have unusually strong debaters that crush our material with theirs. We will see, the summer camp will greatly increase my skill to prepare for debating materials," said Kaoke. "Believe it or not, China have a special training program for people who got selected when they are still young. They get locked inside a room filled with nothing but math textbooks for 6 hours per day. It is brutal, but their performance is amazing, they mastered slow, fast and Gauss debating techniques," said Dr. Baron.
Great math debaters always have a place in great colleges. "I got accepted into MIT, but I'm still a junior," laughed Kaoke.
